Here we are heading into another WNBA season approaching fast and free agency underway. Before free agency begins I wanted to give you a list of thingsI am watching in free agency.
1 Skylar Diggins-Smith
Although Skylar hasn't played in over a year she could be a major game changer to a contending team. What happend in Phoenix we will never truly know, but I will tell you this. A 6x all-star and Olympic medal winner is a game changer on the right team. Originally, I had her going to Indiana, but after recent tweets and Tiffany Hayes retiring I personally could see Skylar and the Sun on a championship run. Could be interesting if they decide to team up and re-sign Bonner and Jones. Another place I would like to see Skylar goes is Atlanta. Parker, Howard, Gray with a young Jones who Skylar could mentor would make this team very dangerous come playoff time.
2. Elena Delle Donne
Although The Mystics recently cored EDD it was reported EDD was looking to move on from the Mystics. If this is true could we see a sign and trade? Although often on the injured list still very talented and deadly on court. Which team would be willing to roll the dice only time would tell. If EDD stays could the Mytics give it one last run?
3 Los Angeles Sparks
A team with 9, yes, 9 guards on the 2023 roster it will be interesting as u players NNeka, Chiney, the Samuelson sisters, Clarendon, and Canada all up for grabs as unrestricted free agents. Could the Sparks go after Skylar and let the prices fall where they may. The recent retirement of Jasmine Thomas makes things a little easier for the Sparks, but still a lot of options are on the table to retool with some talents free agents.
4. Aerial Powers
If there is one player I would love to see go to the Aces. It's Aerial Powers. Tensions last season ran high and personally I'm 99% sure Aerial will not return to the Lynx. If the right team grabs her she could be a problem at the small forward spot (Liberty, Aces). Keep your eye on Powers I think this is a low risk high reward type.of move.
5 The Seattle Storm
Sue Bird retired and Stewart left for the bright lights of New York. Jewell Llyod became thr leading scorer in the WNBA. Ezi Magbegor and Jordan Horston showed they could be solid peices for the Storms future. What about now though. Could you go after a Stefanie Dolson, NNeka Ogwumike. Having the #4 pick in the draft also makes this and interesting position to be in. In theory you could have PF Rickea Jackson or South Carolina's C Kamilla Cardoso. If the right moves are made this could be my sleeper team to jump right back in thr playoffs in 2024.
